War on Drugs

In 1800 drugs drugs first emerged in the United States. Opium became very popular, then came Cocaine, Morphine and Heroin. In those day Cocaine and Heroin was more with African American compared to other race. In the 19th century Cocaine and Opium reached epidemic proportion and then local Governments began to ban their importation. In the 1950's the drug use grew among Americans and spread widely in 1960's, most especially among black communities. In 1971 President Richard Nixon declared war on drugs and he proclaim that America's enemy number one in the United States is  Drug abuse. Nixon passed policies that reflect both temperance view and disease view of addiction. In the movie. It was often associated with the poor people without parent and had to lead their own live.
The people who are indirectly involved in this war are the families of drug dealers and drug users. In this movie it has been found that about 2.7 million children are leading their lives without their parents, who are either drug dealers or drug victims.
It is learn from the movie that the drug law has sentence more people to prison. some of these victims do not receive a fair trail because the crimes they comment do not deserve the punishment. A black victim will receive a severe punishment compared to white how commit the same crime. This shows that race was a factor in this war.

Charlotte was a woman slave owned by Master Grimke in Charleston. She had a daughter whose name was Handful and  happened to be her all. She always share story of her origin with Handful, telling her how people can fly in Africa. She follows her origin spiritual believes that they put their spirit in trees and one day when they about to fly back to Africa they take their spirit with them  She was the seamstress for the entire Grimke's family, very hard working and a woman of no fear despite been a slave.  She will work day and night to have work done when it require her to do so. She was the best seamstress in Charleston and thus her own takes pride in which will not make her be sold. First Writing 100!!!!!

Just as first task and responses are very crucial in every situation, my first writing 100 was extraordinarily to me. Some people hold the view that first impression always tells how something will be. For this reason I was on the edge to write a very productive paper that will yield a productive response to boost my moral throughout this course.  This paper appeared to me like a nightmare, I was not getting what the requirement of the paper was.
I asked my self  "what is it this paper expect of me to fully fulfill the task'" We read several educational papers in class and didn't know how to they will relate the topic at that particular instant, besides no external sources to support the writing other than the articles read. I felt like a failure and might not succeed in this course. It left me with thinking and I could not focus on anything important because I was a little stress out about what to do. At other times too I felt again like it is taking all the time I could use for other classes. Afterwards, I only thought of one thing and that is to seek assistance from the writing center. I scheduled to me a student tutor who asked me to brainstorm some factors that I think account for the problem the writing is about "why education is different for different people". She asked me to form a complete sentence with all the words I had and that gave a strong statement that I could use as a thesis statement for the writing.
I explained every factor back to her to be sure I am on tract with the topic. The next step was to build on those points and support them with evidence. As soon as I started elaborating on the points new ideas began to emerge, though there were some kind of doubt in me if everything that pops up fit the topic. I thought of writing whatever comes in mind at that instant and make changes as I revise. I did revised at different times to be sure it okay to my knowledge. I am always motivated by the fact I have put time and money into this course and I will push to accomplish so that I don't strive in vein.

EDUCATION IN POPULAR CULTURE

Education and popular culture are directly two opposite ideas. Education deals with learning and acquiring knowledge for improvement .Popular culture is way of life we live that might give little or no education.
Education in popular culture, the teachers in the educational setting handles and controls the school to change individual according to set rules and regulation. They control the location of individual, design and arrange timetable in a specified way for subjects thought. Examination and testing are used to observe and determine passes and fails which assist in allocating individual to grade level. The grading system demonstrate the fulfillment of our self. It is founded on curriculum which focus on skills and teacher-centered education. Education in this case is therefore based on economic productivity rather than social and moral welfare. The student education in popular culture does not emphasis on critical education where people are able to have control over their own lives. The teachers decline to use the skill students posses and ignore teachings that connect school knowledge to subject helpful to student make everyday life. School in popular culture are not open to curriculum that embraces films, television and movies are as teaching methods, but emphasis on the traditional classroom and the normal lecture theater system which  indicate the influence it has on creativity. That means students in popular cultures are not able to act on their ability to exhibit new ideas.

HIGH SCHOOL

Armed Force Senior High School was the high school I attended. It is a foreign high school and is identified by it name. Everything there is meant to be a force. My first year was terrible experience. The country high school system is such that we reside on campus. Once on campus, senior year students dictate the life of freshmen. They own freshmen when class hours are over and the weekend. They have control over when the freshmen sleeps, eats and even taking shower. In actual sense, the school was full of maltreatment to the extent of laying hands, using canes and belts on us. I was beaten, had sleepless night and denied food some of the times. Even soldiers on the base where the school was located could put their hand on any of us. Mostly, the only thought on my mind was how to survive that game in the school. I had to play the  "Cat and Mouse tactics"  to survive because I never had a choice.
The teaching stuff was very admirable. Most of the teacher I happen to meet were the best, they took care of students. They guided me, gave options for several opportunities, showed there was a potential in me. They inflected corporal punishments for not doing assignment, not coming to class and for being late. The beatings were never a problem to me because that thought me discipline. As a science student  they nurtured me to be among the best, like they would do for their kids and that made me learn how to be independent. That was the time I experienced for myself all the misconceptions that has been made about them were not true.
I met different categories of  people from across the country, some had the same ambition like me and others had the mind set to bring students down either through physical or spiritual means. The Headmaster was a Major in the Army and he was the most headstrong person I have encountered in  my life. He is the kind who will punch, kick or even shot if anyone come his way. Students life were at risk before him. He beats with sticks, tree branches, throw tables and chairs at students and fight teachers some of the time. At one time he run after me to beat me and I had to escape over the school fence .I never had the opportunity to participate in any extra-curricular activities such as the inter school games because the school operate differently from others and will not part take.
In every bad situation there are good within, so I picked the good and embraced all the hardship. Finally, I made it to graduation with success.

INTERVIEW WITH AMMAR

Ammar is a 26 year old guy from a city called Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. He graduated from Jeddah High School in 2007 and enrolled in university for a year to do General course study. He worked for a year and then migrated to the United States of America in 2011 to seek higher education. He has attended three other colleges in his four years in the states, but found his current college to be the best for his career. He puts trust and depends on his friends for most things he does. He likes to hang out with friends. They sit and chat together, play games and sports like soccer at his free time. He get really exited when he makes contact with the friends he has not seen for long. Making fun of him when he goes wrong agitate him and degrade his confidence in whatever he plans doing. He also looses self-confidence when he could not perform to expectation. Education and family is the most important thing in his life and has realized the only way to reach his ambition in life is getting the college degree in Administration . It takes priority over all other things in his life. He is currently a Junior at Cedar Crest College studying Business Administration.  He plans going back home after he completes to help improve the economical challenges they face.
